My friend and I

Climbed the narrow pass

To the place where the rocks

Flooded out from the mountain

The city looked flat

Flatter than a board

And I said I am excited

To move

I drank coffee

From a paper cup

And we shifted on the rocks

To avoid the broken glass

I said I’m doing exactly the same thing

As I was doing when I was twenty-three

And that 2005 was darker than the night

So sun come shine a light on the city of angels

Just then the breeze

Lifted up my hair

I said lets get out of here

There’s too much to do

But the moment remains

Up on the mountain

It’s perched and eye

Oh I were its prey
