I’ll tell you a story of a modern man

A really funny story of a modern man

Who spends all his time doing the best he can

Even quits his job as singer in his rock and roll band

So he goes out and finds himself a modern girl

Gets himself in trouble with his modern girl

And they bring a new life into the modern world

And after one year, it’s all over

And wow

What can this philosophy bring?

I said now

Is this a 21st century thing?

So we all want our freedom and we want our choice

Better take responsibility for freedom’s voice

And then you pays your money and you takes your chance

To live with a distinctive lack of permanence

So the young and the lonely need a helping hand

It may be hard to find in these shifting sands

And who knows what it is that future history brings

And who knows on what behaviour it all may hinge

What can this philosophy bring?

Is this a 21st century thing?

'Cause it’s the 21st century way that carries on, yes it is

And it’s all that matters when all the other centuries are gone

So we all want our remedies, we want our cures

If we don’t learn from history we’re damned for sure

You see monogamy makes economic sense

But the nature of man is so against that expense

We’ll see what future history brings

L'histoire vraiment drôle d'un homme moderne

Qui passe tout son temps à faire du mieux qu'il peut

Il quitte même son travail de chanteur dans son groupe de rock and roll

Alors il sort et se trouve une fille moderne

Se met en difficulté avec sa copine moderne

Et ils apportent une nouvelle vie dans le monde moderne

Et au bout d'un an, c'est fini

Et waouh

Que peut apporter cette philosophie ?

J'ai dit maintenant

Est-ce une chose du XXIe siècle ?

Alors nous voulons tous notre liberté et nous voulons notre choix

Mieux assumer la voix de la liberté

Et puis vous payez votre argent et vous tentez votre chance

Vivre avec un manque distinctif de permanence

Alors les jeunes et les solitaires ont besoin d'un coup de main

Il peut être difficile à trouver dans ces sables mouvants

Et qui sait ce que c'est que l'histoire future apporte

Et qui sait de quel comportement tout cela peut dépendre

Que peut apporter cette philosophie ?

Est-ce une chose du XXIe siècle ?

Parce que c'est la manière du 21ème siècle qui continue, oui c'est 

Et c'est tout ce qui compte quand tous les autres siècles sont partis

Alors nous voulons tous nos remèdes, nous voulons nos remèdes

Si nous n'apprenons pas de l'histoire, nous sommes damnés à coup sûr

Vous voyez la monogamie a un sens économique

Mais la nature de l'homme est si contre cette dépense
