Is up the stairs and four doors down the hall

And no one ever goes there

Except for linens when the family comes to call

The room nobody lives in

Is always empty but immaculately clean

And all is softly silent

Except for buzzings of the flies between the screens

But there’s a feeling even breathing in the air

Like there’s someone, when there’s no one even there

And I’m hearing the cheers for the heroes

Of scenes going down in this room for so many years

But now nobody goes there

For forty years or so this room has been alone

And starving for a moment

Completely human and completely all her own

The room nobody lives in is up the stairs

And four doors down the hall

Est en haut les escaliers et quatre portes dans le couloir

Et personne n'y va jamais

Sauf pour le linge de maison lorsque la famille vient appeler

Est toujours vide, mais d'une propreté impeccable

Et tout est doucement silencieux

Sauf pour les bourdonnements des mouches entre les écrans

Mais il y a un sentiment même en respirant l'air

Comme s'il y avait quelqu'un, alors qu'il n'y avait même personne là-bas

Et j'entends les acclamations des héros

Des scènes qui se déroulent dans cette pièce pendant tant d'années

Mais maintenant personne n'y va

Pendant quarante ans environ, cette pièce a été seule

Et mourir de faim un instant

Complètement humaine et complètement à elle
