A Story From Tom Bitz - Kaleidoscope

I met a person recently on a train, it was going south

I very shyly tried to speak to her but the words, they stuck in my mouth

Come here, she said to me, in a voice I could hardly see

Pray, tell me what is it with you?

Why are you looking there at me?

I spoke to her without thinking, I said, I love you, I do believe!

She slapped my face with both her hands and asked me if I would leave

I screamed, Oh no, I didn’t mean that, but then again, yes, I think I did!

She said, Ok, Tom, come over here, and she opened up the lid

Of the suitcase that she was carrying underneath her arm

From which she took two little bottles, I knew I’d come to harm

She made me drink the liquid and my head began to reel

I soon found myself upon the floor, I could not see or could not feel

When I came to, the train I was in, it had made its final stop

And as I opened up my eyes, there before me was a cop

He said that I was drunk and without money, pride and ticket too

Then they ran me down the County Jail, oh, what else could they do?

I tried to explain about the lady who was with me on the train

But they all stood round and looked at me like I was insane

I begged for mercy and forgiveness and for a cigarette too

But they gave me six months hard labour, oh, what else could they do?

While in jail, I met an old cowboy, who said he liked me fine

He made me steal a horse for him and I got extra time

Well, the moral of this story, I expect you all can see

Too easily

J'ai rencontré une personne récemment dans un train, il allait vers le sud

J'ai essayé très timidement de lui parler mais les mots, ils sont restés dans ma bouche

Viens ici, me dit-elle, d'une voix que je pouvais à peine voir

Je vous prie, dites-moi qu'est-ce que vous avez ?

Pourquoi me regardes-tu ?

Je lui ai parlé sans réfléchir, j'ai dit, je t'aime, je crois !

Elle m'a giflé le visage avec ses deux mains et m'a demandé si je partirais

J'ai crié, Oh non, je ne voulais pas dire ça, mais encore une fois, oui, je pense que je l'ai fait !

Elle a dit, Ok, Tom, viens ici, et elle a ouvert le couvercle

De la valise qu'elle portait sous son bras

D'où elle a pris deux petites bouteilles, je savais que je serais blessé

Elle m'a fait boire le liquide et ma tête a commencé à tourner

Je me suis bientôt retrouvé sur le sol, je ne pouvais ni voir ni sentir

Quand je suis arrivé, le train dans lequel j'étais, il avait fait son dernier arrêt

Et quand j'ai ouvert les yeux, il y avait devant moi un flic

Il a dit que j'étais ivre et sans argent, fierté et billet aussi

Puis ils m'ont fait descendre la prison du comté, oh, que pouvaient-ils faire d'autre ?

J'ai essayé d'expliquer à propos de la dame qui était avec moi dans le train

Mais ils se sont tous levés et m'ont regardé comme si j'étais fou

J'ai supplié la miséricorde et le pardon et une cigarette aussi

Mais ils m'ont donné six mois de travaux forcés, oh, que pouvaient-ils faire d'autre ?

En prison, j'ai rencontré un vieux cow-boy, qui m'a dit qu'il m'aimait bien

Il m'a fait voler un cheval pour lui et j'ai eu plus de temps

Eh bien, la morale de cette histoire, je m'attends à ce que vous puissiez tous voir
