A mother wrote a warning how much longer must I wait

Before you send my boy back home to me

For my eyes are growing dim and I’m longing for my Jim

Please hurry up and let my boy go free

The warden read the letter a tear fell from his eye

Sitting down he wrote her this reply

Bringing back a lost sheep to the fold

There’s a valley filled with tears as the train of sorrow nears

The night is dark the world is growing cold

There he’s taking his last ride down the trail no more he’ll roam

On his face there is a smile he knows he’s going home

The church was filled with people as the organ softly played

And on their knees the congregation prayed

As they softly sang a hymn for poor widow’s Jim

He’s happy for he’s going home to stay

There he’s taking his last ride…

Une mère a écrit un avertissement combien de temps dois-je attendre

Avant de me renvoyer mon garçon à la maison

S'il vous plaît, dépêchez-vous et laissez mon garçon en liberté

Le directeur a lu la lettre une larme est tombée de son œil

Assis, il lui a écrit cette réponse

Il y a une vallée remplie de larmes alors que le train du chagrin approche

La nuit est noire, le monde se refroidit

Là, il fait son dernier tour sur le sentier, il ne va plus errer

Sur son visage, il y a un sourire, il sait qu'il rentre à la maison

L'église était remplie de monde alors que l'orgue jouait doucement

Et à genoux la congrégation a prié

Alors qu'ils chantaient doucement un hymne pour la pauvre veuve Jim

Il est content car il rentre chez lui pour rester

Le voilà qui fait son dernier tour…
