The Beautiful Silence - And Also the Trees

I came upon a house

In a place I’d never been before

All painted white and open doors

With the sunlight dancing on the floor

I saw the wind in the spring trees

Smelt the poplar and the sun’s heat

And the meadows lie sleeping.

I found myself in a pale room

With a bolted door

And a beautiful silence

I saw a woman lying there

With the sunlight entwined in her auburn hair

And through the window floated many things

Photographs and letters and her wedding ring

And a child voice speaking.

I came upon a house

Somewhere I’d never been before

And in this lace of light and dark

I feel my heart sing joyously inside me.

Dans un endroit où je n'étais jamais allé auparavant

Toutes peintes en blanc et portes ouvertes

Avec la lumière du soleil dansant sur le sol

J'ai vu le vent dans les arbres printaniers

Sentir le peuplier et la chaleur du soleil

Et les prés dorment.

Je me suis retrouvé dans une pièce pâle

Avec une porte verrouillée

Et un beau silence

J'ai vu une femme allongée là

Avec la lumière du soleil entrelacée dans ses cheveux auburn

Et à travers la fenêtre flottaient beaucoup de choses

Photographies et lettres et son alliance

Et une voix d'enfant qui parle.

Je suis tombé sur une maison

Quelque part où je n'étais jamais allé auparavant

Et dans cette dentelle de lumière et d'obscurité

Je sens mon cœur chanter joyeusement en moi.
