Riverbed - Another Sky

They were no walkers, born underwater

With gills in a past life

Ankle-biters, precise in spite of

But they saw red

Red and only red

Now, I am done with the Riverbed

Sun never reaches there

Done with the creatures bred

In wet mud and featureless

Anchored to my skin, it swells

Makes every heaven hell

The sky, the floor of the well

The air, the Riverbed

I’m not your animal

But I prayed to be made one

Threw me down

Showed me around

Humanity as a prison ground

I am done with the Riverbed

I am the river

Red and only red

Ils n'étaient pas des marcheurs, nés sous l'eau

Avec des branchies dans une vie antérieure

Mordeurs de cheville, précis malgré 

Mais ils ont vu rouge

Rouge et seulement rouge

Maintenant, j'en ai fini avec le lit de la rivière

Le soleil n'y arrive jamais

Fini les créatures élevées

Dans la boue humide et sans relief

Ancré à ma peau, il gonfle

Fait de chaque paradis un enfer

Le ciel, le fond du puits

L'air, le lit de la rivière

je ne suis pas ton animal

Mais j'ai prié pour en devenir un

M'a jeté à terre

M'a fait visiter

L'humanité comme prison

J'en ai fini avec le Riverbed

je suis la rivière
