Song of the Pearl - Arbouretum

nights were spent waiting for days

back in the brown times

and there in the rising midwinter’s sun

was abraham’s ram caught in the thicket

and what appeared

was told in turbulence on the water

when she was near

there could be no home apart from this

but now its gone, long gone-

when I look out across a clearing

it is obscured

out on an ocean dark and vast

two fishes tied, at alpha are bound

waving a pole and waking the dead

the goatherder turned the shining stars

and so turned she,

and there awoke a staring eye

but not a mouth-

I’d become as passerby

O in a world long gone

she waits, she waits for me

horizons sing

I saw her last

in a hazy, dark, and crowded room

stramlined and fast

shameless with everyone

and when the last song’s playing

here she comes, carring a pitcher

to fill the flood

les nuits ont été passées à attendre des jours

de retour à l'époque brune

et là sous le soleil levant du milieu de l'hiver

Le bélier d'Abraham était-il pris dans le fourré

et ce qui est apparu

a été dit en turbulence sur l'eau

quand elle était près

il ne pourrait y avoir aucune maison en dehors de celle-ci

mais maintenant c'est parti, c'est parti depuis longtemps-

quand je regarde à travers une clairière

c'est obscurci

sur un océan sombre et vaste

deux poissons liés, à alpha sont liés

agitant une perche et réveillant les morts

le chevrier a fait briller les étoiles

et elle se tourna ainsi,

et là s'est réveillé un œil fixe

mais pas une bouche-

Je deviendrais passant

O dans un monde disparu depuis longtemps

elle attend, elle m'attend

les horizons chantent

Je l'ai vue pour la dernière fois

dans une pièce brumeuse, sombre et bondée

sobre et rapide

sans vergogne avec tout le monde

Et quand la dernière chanson joue

la voici venir, portant une cruche

remplir le déluge
