Saint Peter’s Gate

I was lost in the dark

And the fear was in my heart

All around me the forest and the rain

Then with the flash of a light, I saw it in the night

I must be getting near — Saint Peter’s Gate!

When I went through the door, he was standing in the hall

An old man with a beard of shining white

He said «I've been expecting you, let me show you to your room»

And he took me all the way by candlelight

And lying there on the bed, a book, black & red

My name was written on the front in gold

And when I opened it up, there were pictures of my life

And a voice began to call from down below;

Nobody will get through, nobody

Not even you, can escape the Judgement Day

Nobody will be spared, Heaven is only there

For the ones who satisfy them at — Saint Peter’s Gate

«Come with me» said that old man, as he took me by the hand

«There is someone here that you have seen before

In this room on the left, a man who did his best

To bring joy and happiness to one and all;

But in that room on the right, a dictator in life

We’ve been waiting for him here, as you can tell

For all the blood he’s spilled

And for all the ones he’s killed

We condemn him to eternity in hell;

Nobody will get through, Nobody

Not even you, can escape the Judgement Day

I woke up with the dawn, there was someone in my room

A woman, like an angel all in white

And then she told me «You must run, for your time has yet to come

Go now, before they change their minds»

And from the window I saw

A thousand or more

Bringing that dictator to his knees

And his cries broke the sound

Of my footsteps on the ground

As I made it to the safety of the trees:

Nobody will get through

Porte Saint-Pierre

J'étais perdu dans le noir

Et la peur était dans mon cœur

Tout autour de moi la forêt et la pluie

Puis avec le flash d'une lumière, je l'ai vu dans la nuit

Je dois être près de la porte Saint-Pierre !

Quand j'ai franchi la porte, il se tenait dans le couloir

Un vieil homme avec une barbe d'un blanc éclatant

Il a dit "Je t'attendais, laisse-moi te montrer ta chambre"

Et il m'a emmené tout le chemin à la lueur des bougies

Et allongé là sur le lit, un livre, noir et rouge

Mon nom était écrit sur le devant en or

Et quand je l'ai ouvert, il y avait des photos de ma vie

Et une voix a commencé à appeler d'en bas ;

Personne ne passera, personne

Même toi, tu ne peux pas échapper au Jour du Jugement

Personne ne sera épargné, le paradis n'est que là

Pour ceux qui les satisfont à la porte Saint-Pierre

"Viens avec moi" dit ce vieil homme en me prenant par la main

"Il y a quelqu'un ici que vous avez déjà vu

Dans cette pièce à gauche, un homme qui a fait de son mieux

Apporter joie et bonheur à tous ;

Mais dans cette pièce à droite, un dictateur dans la vie

Nous l'attendions ici, comme vous pouvez le voir

Pour tout le sang qu'il a versé

Et pour tous ceux qu'il a tué

Nous le condamnons à l'éternité en enfer ;

Je me suis réveillé à l'aube, il y avait quelqu'un dans ma chambre

Une femme, comme un ange tout en blanc

Et puis elle m'a dit "Tu dois courir, car ton heure n'est pas encore venue

Allez maintenant, avant qu'ils ne changent d'avis »

Et de la fenêtre j'ai vu

Un millier ou plus

Mettre ce dictateur à genoux

Et ses cris brisèrent le son

De mes pas sur le sol

Alors que j'arrivais à la sécurité des arbres :

Personne ne passera

Personne pas même toi

Peut échapper au jour du jugement

Personne ne sera épargné
