The Bucking Machine - Chris Ledoux

I’ve rode lots of horses and I’ve won a few shows

Ridin' broncs at the big old rodeos

But the dang-dest contraption that I’ve ever seen

Is that bucket of bots called a buckin' machine

The kids they were all lined up to give the thing a go

And when I first saw it Lord it looked pretty slow

It jumped and it kicked then it turned back a twirled

Then I got to thinking I’ll give it a whirl

So I pushed through the crowd and I talked to the man

Who had invented this here modified garbage can

I said I’m a twister and one of the best

I’m a wolf of the world boys I must confess

Ill bet you a hundred I said with a grin I’ll spur it so hard its sides will

cave in

And the bolts and the screws that hold the dang thing together

Will fall down inside it there and short out its motor

Well the man he said son I’ll take that bet

And I won’t turn it till you think that you’re set

So I got my riggin' and I cinched it on down

Then I said to old Sam go ahead and turn it on

Well it rattled and it groaned, then it started to move

I spurred it every jump, and, Lord, it felt mighty smooth

The foam rubber was a flyin' right off of its old neck

And the tin underneath it was startin' to crack

I looked at the man and I started to say

I’ll win me that hundred fore the end of the day

Then he grabbed a big ol' lever with a little sly grin

Jammed it up to high gear and locked it right on in

With a snatch and a jerk and a sharp stabbin' pain

I felt like a hobo tied to an old freight train

My head it went to poppin' and I saw all the starts

The Big Dipper the Milky Way and the planet they call Mars

The next thing I knew I was right there on the ground

Just about thirty feet away from that laughin' crowd

So I payed up my hundred and I limped on away

And the words the man I still remember today

So you’re a wolf of the world and a real tough twister

Well listen real close to some good advise Mister

Keep a ridin' them old broncs if you’re still feeling mean

But you’d better keep clear of Sam’s buckin' machine

J'ai monté beaucoup de chevaux et j'ai gagné quelques spectacles

Chevaucher des broncs dans les grands vieux rodéos

Mais le dang-dest engin que j'ai jamais vu

Ce groupe de bots s'appelle-t-il une machine ?

Les enfants, ils étaient tous alignés pour essayer le truc

Et quand je l'ai vu pour la première fois, Seigneur, ça avait l'air assez lent

Il a sauté et il a donné un coup de pied puis il s'est retourné en tournant

Ensuite, je dois penser que je vais lui donner un tourbillon

Alors j'ai traversé la foule et j'ai parlé à l'homme

Qui avait inventé cette poubelle ici modifiée

J'ai dit que j'étais un twister et l'un des meilleurs

Je suis un loup du monde, les garçons, je dois avouer

Je te parie cent, j'ai dit avec un sourire que je vais le stimuler si fort que ses côtés le feront

s'effondrer

Et les boulons et les vis qui maintiennent le truc ensemble

Tombera à l'intérieur et court-circuitera son moteur

Eh bien, l'homme qu'il a dit fils, je vais prendre ce pari

Et je ne le tournerai pas jusqu'à ce que tu penses que tu es prêt

Alors j'ai mon gréement et je l'ai attaché

Puis j'ai dit au vieux Sam, allez-y et allumez-le

Eh bien, ça a cliqueté et ça a grogné, puis ça a commencé à bouger

Je l'ai stimulé à chaque saut, et, Seigneur, c'était très doux

Le caoutchouc mousse volait juste à côté de son ancien cou

Et la boîte en dessous commençait à se fissurer

J'ai regardé l'homme et j'ai commencé à dire

Je vais me gagner cette centaine avant la fin de la journée

Puis il attrapa un gros levier avec un petit sourire sournois

Je l'ai bloqué à la vitesse supérieure et je l'ai verrouillé directement dans

Avec un arraché et une secousse et une douleur lancinante aiguë

Je me sentais comme un vagabond attaché à un vieux train de marchandises

Ma tête a éclaté et j'ai vu tous les départs

La Grande Ourse la Voie lactée et la planète qu'ils appellent Mars

La prochaine chose que j'ai su, j'étais juste là sur le sol

À environ trente pieds de cette foule qui rit

Alors j'ai payé mes cent et j'ai boité

Et les mots de l'homme dont je me souviens encore aujourd'hui

Alors tu es un loup du monde et un vrai tornade dur

Eh bien, écoutez attentivement quelques bons conseils Monsieur

Continuez à chevaucher ces vieux broncs si vous vous sentez toujours méchant

Mais tu ferais mieux de rester à l'écart de la machine à buckin de Sam
