The Drag - Crepes

Once the product of pain and desire

Not much has changed, but it’s simpler now, I hope

Trying to find new ways to aspire

And be amazed, but it’s similar woes, I know

And once I get myself away from here

I start to recognise the overwhelming weight of fear and

I try to keep myself as best amused

The drag upon me brings the stormy winter blues and

Why try to be somebody?

Nobody tries to be me

Work hard, don’t play hard

You’ll save yourself the damage from the drag

When I was starting to strain and perspire

You dragged me out from the internet onto my feet

Trying to find new ways we can fire

You brought me in from the country to the city streets

I once found myself immune to you

Those days are gone, and now I’m searching for a lowly clue

And whereabouts I’ll get my swagger back

Come busting in and take the rifle off the rack

Why try to be somebody?
