My father’s never waiting by the window

watching as his life goes by

he gets right in there with both hands and gets dirty

he’ll be that way until he dies

My father never gave me a curfew

this is just what he’d say

he said «always wear your runners in the night time

so you can just run, run away»

My father’s life was never ever easy

but he always made it look that way

he would take me to shoot arrows in the forest

and he told me that he loved me every day.

Mon père n'attend jamais près de la fenêtre

regarder sa vie passer

il y pénètre à deux mains et se salit

il le sera jusqu'à sa mort

Mon père ne m'a jamais imposé de couvre-feu

c'est exactement ce qu'il dirait

il a dit "portez toujours vos coureurs la nuit

alors vous pouvez simplement courir, fuir »

La vie de mon père n'a jamais été facile

mais il a toujours fait en sorte que ça ressemble à ça

il m'emmenait tirer des flèches dans la forêt

et il m'a dit qu'il m'aimait tous les jours.
