This endris night I saw a sight

A star as bright as day

And 'ere among a maiden sang

Lullay bye bye lullay

This lovely lady sat and sang

And to her child did say

«My son, my brother, father, dear

Why liest thou thus in hay»

The child then spoke in his talking

And to his mother said

«Yea, I am known as Heaven’s King

Though I in crib be laid»

Methinks it right that king or knight

Should lie in good array

And then among, it were no wrong

To sing bye bye lullay

Mary, mother, I am that child

Tho' I be laid in stall

For lords and dukes shall worship me

And so shall kinges all

Now tell, sweet son, I thee do pray

Thou art my love and dear

How should I keep thee to thy pay

And make thee glad of cheer

My dear mother, thou hold me warm

And keep me night and day

And if I weep and may not sleep

Cette nuit d'endris, j'ai vu un spectacle

Une étoile aussi brillante que le jour

Et 'avant parmi une jeune fille a chanté

Cette charmante dame s'est assise et a chanté

Et à son enfant a dit

« Mon fils, mon frère, mon père, mon cher

Pourquoi reposes-tu ainsi dans le foin »

L'enfant a ensuite parlé dans son parler

Et à sa mère dit

"Oui, je suis connu comme le Roi du Ciel

Bien que je sois couché dans un berceau »

Je pense que c'est bien ce roi ou ce chevalier

Doit se trouver dans un bon tableau

Et puis parmi, ce n'était pas mal

Chanter au revoir berceuse

Marie, mère, je suis cet enfant

Bien que je sois mis en décrochage

Car les seigneurs et les ducs m'adoreront

Et ainsi seront rois tous

Maintenant dis, doux fils, je te prie

Tu es mon amour et ma chérie

Comment devrais-je te garder à ton salaire
