I want to tell you a story

About how I started out

I believe the year was 1976

When I decided to leave my home you see

It was time for me to go out into the world and to seek my fortune

I had a choice

I could either be starved and be cold

And move to the east

Or starve and be hot

So hot you see and move to the west

I picked LA

I wanna share with you the first five chapters of my life

Chapter One

I was walking down the street

With my head held high and my pockets filled with dreams

And I feel into a hole

I said to myself who put that hole there

Whoever put it there sure is mean

So I picked myself up out of the hole

Dusted myself off and went on my merry way

Chapter Two

I was walking down the same street

Feeling good

And I fell into a hole

I said to myself who put this hole there

Whoever put it there sure is mean

So I climbed up out of the hole and I dusted myself off went on my way

And remember thinking not everybody loves you like your mother

Chapter Three

I was walking down the same street

When I fell, oh yes I fell I tumbled hard this time

Down the same hole

I said to myself

I know this hole

I’ve been here before and I don’t want to come back no more

So I picked myself up out of the hole

Dusted myself off

Said hole you ain’t gonna get me no more

Well… Chapter 4

I was walking down the same street

I like to flurt with danger

That’s my nature

But this time I saw the hole and I jumped over the hole

I said hole you won’t get me no more

I kicked some dirt into the hole

Well now

That I learned how to live

I’m living what I learned

So I’m in chapter five right here right now

And I’m walking down a new street

Feelin' healthy

Feelin' fine

Feelin' prosperous oh the whole the world is mine

I take my time

Do as I Please

Please when I want to

It sure feels good

They say life begins after that number and it sure does

Je veux vous raconter une histoire

À propos de mes débuts

Je crois que l'année était 1976

Quand j'ai décidé de quitter ma maison, tu vois

Il était temps pour moi d'aller dans le monde et de chercher ma fortune

j'avais le choix

Je pourrais être affamé et avoir froid

Et déplacez-vous vers l'est

Ou mourir de faim et avoir chaud

Tellement chaud que vous voyez et déplacez-vous vers l'ouest

J'ai choisi LA

Je veux partager avec vous les cinq premiers chapitres de ma vie

Chapitre un

Je marchais dans la rue

Avec ma tête haute et mes poches remplies de rêves

Et je me sens dans un trou

Je me suis dit qui a mis ce trou là

Celui qui l'a mis là est certainement méchant

Alors je me suis relevé du trou

Je me suis dépoussiéré et j'ai continué mon petit bonhomme de chemin

Chapitre deux

Je marchais dans la même rue

Se sentir bien

Et je suis tombé dans un trou

Je me suis dit qui a mis ce trou là

Celui qui l'a mis là est certainement méchant

Alors je suis sorti du trou et je me suis dépoussiéré et j'ai continué mon chemin

Et souviens-toi de penser que tout le monde ne t'aime pas comme ta mère

Chapitre trois

Je marchais dans la même rue

Quand je suis tombé, oh oui je suis tombé, je suis tombé fort cette fois

Dans le même trou

Je me suis dit

Je connais ce trou

Je suis déjà venu ici et je ne veux plus revenir

Alors je me suis relevé du trou

Je me suis dépoussiéré

Dit trou tu ne m'auras plus

Eh bien… Chapitre 4

Je marchais dans la même rue

J'aime flirter avec le danger

C'est ma nature

Mais cette fois j'ai vu le trou et j'ai sauté par-dessus le trou

J'ai dit trou tu ne m'auras plus

J'ai mis de la terre dans le trou

Bien maintenant

Que j'ai appris à vivre

Je vis ce que j'ai appris

Je suis donc au chapitre cinq ici en ce moment

Et je marche dans une nouvelle rue

Je me sens en bonne santé

Je me sens bien

Je me sens prospère oh le monde entier est à moi

je prends mon temps

Faites ce que je veux

S'il vous plaît, quand je veux

C'est sûr que ça fait du bien

Ils disent que la vie commence après ce nombre et c'est sûr
