I’ve been to Spain but never again, I couldn’t go there twice

'Cos my name’s John Willie but they said it sounded silly

And they wouldnt call me that at any price.

They soon made me change my name and a real proper Spaniard I became:

Don Pedro, the big bull-fighting hero, The Lancashire Toreador.

They cheer me and when the bull gets near me

To show how far a brave man can go with the bull I danced the Tango.

Then when I hung on his tail my pants he tried to gore.

I went dashing round the ring with him giving chase,

Three times he tossed me in the air, I looked a disgrace.

They shouted, 'Look at all that skin and bone round the place,

It’s The Lancashire Toreador.'

I met-a charming senor-eta

She said, 'To love you I can never', then kissed me good-bye for ever.

That night, as she retired, she locked her bedroom door.

She started to undress and timidly she looked round,

Said, 'Thank God, I am rid of him for he’s homeward bound',

But when she pulled the bed clothes down now guess what she found?

I scare 'em, no mercy ever spare 'em.

In the dead of night I ramble, Spanish castle walls I scramble.

I saw a shadow above a girl in her boudoir.

I climbed up her balcony, it started to sway.

She shouted, 'Murder!

there’s a bandit, spare my life, pray'.

But when my castanets I rattled she said, 'Hooray!

J'ai été en Espagne mais plus jamais, je n'ai pas pu y aller deux fois

Parce que je m'appelle John Willie mais ils ont dit que ça avait l'air idiot

Et ils ne m'appelleraient pas comme ça à n'importe quel prix.

Ils m'ont rapidement fait changer de nom et je suis devenu un vrai Espagnol :

Ils m'encouragent et quand le taureau s'approche de moi

Pour montrer jusqu'où un homme courageux peut aller avec le taureau, j'ai dansé le Tango.

Puis, quand j'ai accroché à sa queue mon pantalon, il a essayé de gore.

J'ai fait le tour du ring avec lui pour le poursuivre,

Trois fois, il m'a jeté en l'air, j'avais l'air honteux.

Ils ont crié : " Regardez toute cette peau et ces os autour de l'endroit,

C'est le Lancashire Toreador.

J'ai rencontré un charmant senor-eta

Elle a dit : "Je ne pourrai jamais t'aimer", puis elle m'a embrassé au revoir pour toujours.

Cette nuit-là, alors qu'elle se retirait, elle a verrouillé la porte de sa chambre.

Elle a commencé à se déshabiller et timidement elle a regardé autour d'elle,

Il a dit : "Dieu merci, je suis débarrassé de lui car il est sur le chemin du retour",

Mais quand elle a baissé les vêtements du lit, devinez ce qu'elle a trouvé ?

Je leur fais peur, aucune pitié ne les épargne jamais.

Au milieu de la nuit, je me promène, je brouille les murs des châteaux espagnols.

J'ai vu une ombre au-dessus d'une fille dans son boudoir.

J'ai grimpé sur son balcon, il a commencé à se balancer.

Elle a crié : « Meurtre !

il y a un bandit, épargnez ma vie, priez ».

Mais quand mes castagnettes ont fait cliqueter, elle a dit : "Hourra !
