I never cared about caring much before

I rolled my eyes and even texting was a chore

I was your average heartless kid

Then one day Mrs. Werring handed me a book and said

«Here, read this book.

The book is by some guy who’s dead»

I read it and I’m glad I did

It was by a person who I never knew, but the words made sense and the message,

too

And it made me fired up and made me care

And I wasn’t scared, I was not alone

Made me wanna make something of my own

Something wired up that I could share

And that person I would never see, just totally affected me

Is that legacy?

I never cared about fireworks before

I thought that they were just for babies, nothing more

I was your average fucking kid

But then I started giving things a second look

And realized fireworks were kind of like that book

And I’m really glad I did

'Cause they’re a thing that you hold in your hand

And they’re dangerous, but you understand

If handled with intelligence and care

The explosion and the crashing sound can be seen and felt for miles around

It reaches folks who weren’t even there

Even though I didn’t see the blast

I watched glitter in the sky blow past

And that’s legacy

The bloom

I look around and think about the stage I’m on

And whether anyone will notice when I’m gone

What do I leave behind?

Which is why we gotta make a spark

Which makes a flame and then will leave its mark

For someone else to find

And that person who lived dangerously

Makes me braver than I used to be

And I let it drip into my art

I see a flare

Je ne me suis jamais soucié de m'en soucier avant

J'ai roulé des yeux et même envoyer des SMS était une corvée

J'étais votre enfant sans cœur moyen

Puis un jour, Mme Werring m'a tendu un livre et m'a dit

« Tiens, lis ce livre.

Le livre est écrit par un type qui est mort »

Je l'ai lu et je suis content de l'avoir fait

C'était par une personne que je n'ai jamais connue, mais les mots avaient un sens et le message,

Et ça m'a excité et m'a fait m'inquiéter

Et je n'avais pas peur, je n'étais pas seul

M'a donné envie de faire quelque chose à moi

Quelque chose de câblé que je pourrais partager

Et cette personne que je ne verrais jamais, m'a totalement affecté

Est-ce un héritage ?

Je ne m'étais jamais soucié des feux d'artifice auparavant

Je pensais qu'ils étaient réservés aux bébés, rien de plus

J'étais ton putain d'enfant moyen

Mais ensuite j'ai commencé à jeter un second regard sur les choses

Et j'ai réalisé que les feux d'artifice étaient un peu comme ce livre

Et je suis vraiment content de l'avoir fait

Parce qu'ils sont une chose que tu tiens dans ta main

Et ils sont dangereux, mais tu comprends

S'il est manipulé avec intelligence et soin

L'explosion et le bruit de collision peuvent être vus et ressentis à des kilomètres à la ronde

Il atteint des personnes qui n'étaient même pas là

Même si je n'ai pas vu l'explosion

J'ai regardé des paillettes dans le ciel souffler

Et c'est l'héritage

La floraison

Je regarde autour de moi et pense à la scène sur laquelle je suis

Et si quelqu'un remarquera quand je serai parti

Qu'est-ce que je laisse derrière ?

C'est pourquoi nous devons faire une étincelle

Qui fait une flamme et ensuite laissera sa marque

Pour que quelqu'un d'autre trouve

Et cette personne qui vivait dangereusement

Me rend plus courageux qu'avant

Et maintenant je suis excité et à quel point je m'en soucie

Et je serre toujours mon cœur ensanglanté
