At first when I heard of some people who claim

That the old-time religion was real

Au début, quand j'ai entendu parler de certaines personnes qui prétendaient

J'ai dit "Je vais descendre, jeter un œil à la foule

Pour juste que je me sens faible d'esprit. »

J'ai monté les marches et j'ai jeté un coup d'œil par la porte

Mais le diable a dit : "N'entrez pas !"

Mais j'ai dit : "Ça ne me fera pas de mal, je vais juste entrer

Et je m'installerai aussi loin que possible. »

Dieu m'a certainement saisi.

Ils ont chanté comme s'ils le pensaient, ils ont tous applaudi

J'ai dit : "C'est du remue-ménage, c'est tout."

"Quand ils se lèveront pour prier, je me lèverai et partirai

Car je ne veux pas du tout être vu ici. »

Mais je me suis incliné cette fois-là, il a commencé à prêcher

Et il m'a regardé droit dans les yeux

Il a dit à tout le monde à quel point j'étais méchant

Il ne parlait pas comme s'il avait une grande opinion de moi.

Je me suis assis dans mon siège juste en y pensant

Et puis ils ont tous commencé à prier

Le feu est tombé du ciel, je suis tombé par terre

J'ai prié là-bas et Dieu a suivi sa voie.
