Have you ever heard the old carnival tale?

Some say it’s all bullshit, some say it’s for real

It’s about big carousel, merry go round

Unlike any other on carnival grounds

The lights are so bright and so many colors

With horses and swans, and all of the others

It’s hard to resist for a child so young

Some hear the music and follow the drum

It only appears in the dead of the night

Children become mesmerized at the sight

One minute they’re there in their beds sound asleep

When they see it or hear it, they’re bound to creep

Right out of their houses;

they’re drawn right up to it

It’s much too spectacular, they have to do it

They stand right before it, like it’s just a dream

'Cause it’s the most beautiful sight that they’ve ever seen

The children have gathered, they’re standing around it

Some jump on horses.

Some jump on elephants

Some just relax and sit on a bench

The kids all enjoy the ride up and down

All while the carousel spins around

Little do they know, it’s all devastating

As the ride spins all the kids aboard cheer

Nobody notices they’ve grown a year

The children keep riding as time goes by

They’re aging in years on this mystical ride

First they’re all the teenagers, they keep on spinning

They’re blind to the fact they’re aging in time

Once little kids, now they’re all in their prime

But they just riding.

It lights up the darkness

Something so beautiful, truly is heartless

The neighbors and parents all peacefully sleep

While the carousel attracted their children like sheep

Well, children they were, now they’re middle-aged adults

Still growing older, the carousel’s fault

The merry-go spins as the times go by

The children are now so old, they’re about to die

Finally the carousel slows its roll

To these elderly victims, it’s taking its toll

All of them exit and realize their damages

And just like that, the carousel vanishes

Avez-vous déjà entendu le vieux conte de carnaval?

Certains disent que ce ne sont que des conneries, certains disent que c'est pour de vrai

Il s'agit d'un grand carrousel, d'un manège

Contrairement à tout autre terrain de carnaval

Les lumières sont si brillantes et tant de couleurs

Avec des chevaux et des cygnes, et tous les autres

Il est difficile de résister pour un enfant si jeune

Certains entendent la musique et suivent le tambour

Il n'apparaît qu'au cœur de la nuit

Les enfants deviennent hypnotisés à la vue

Une minute, ils sont là dans leurs lits profondément endormis

Quand ils le voient ou l'entendent, ils sont obligés de ramper

Dès la sortie de leurs maisons ;

ils y sont attirés

C'est beaucoup trop spectaculaire, ils doivent le faire

Ils se tiennent juste devant, comme si ce n'était qu'un rêve

Parce que c'est le plus beau spectacle qu'ils aient jamais vu

Les enfants se sont rassemblés, ils se tiennent autour

Enfin un enfant le fait, puis le reste, ils le thésaurisent

Certains sautent sur des chevaux.

Certains se détendent et s'assoient sur un banc

Les enfants apprécient tous le trajet de haut en bas

Pendant que le carrousel tourne

Les lumières et la musique, tout est captivant

Ils ne le savent pas, tout est dévastateur

Alors que le manège fait tourner tous les enfants à bord, applaudissez

Personne ne remarque qu'ils ont grandi d'un an

Les enfants continuent à rouler au fil du temps

Ils vieillissent en années sur cette balade mystique

D'abord, ce sont tous des adolescents, ils continuent de tourner

Alors ce sont tous de jeunes adultes, tous souriants

Ils sont aveugles au fait qu'ils vieillissent avec le temps

Autrefois petits enfants, ils sont maintenant tous dans la fleur de l'âge

Mais ils ne font que rouler.

Il éclaire l'obscurité

Quelque chose de si beau, est vraiment sans cœur

Les voisins et les parents dorment tous paisiblement

Tandis que le carrousel attirait leurs enfants comme des moutons

Eh bien, ils étaient des enfants, maintenant ils sont des adultes d'âge moyen

Toujours vieillir, la faute au carrousel

Le manège tourne au fil du temps

Les enfants sont maintenant si vieux qu'ils sont sur le point de mourir

Enfin le carrousel ralentit son roulement

Pour ces victimes âgées, cela fait des ravages

Tous sortent et réalisent leurs dégâts

Et juste comme ça, le carrousel disparaît
