When I was a boy of eleven years I never saw my pa

Never understood what divorces were I hadn’t grown that far

Loading our belongings on a little horse and cart

Mama said that she and daddy were now apart

Going to the seaside once a year, castles in the sand

Going to the fairground with my pennies counted in my hand

Going to the circus crying if I saw a clown

Walking on my six foot stilts and never falling down

Yelling at my brother, he’s in hiding, won’t play in the snow

Everything I do he just won’t follow, doesn’t want to go

Playing in the fields pretending I’m a Buccaneer

Threw a sword, accidentally hit him in the ear

Playing up the garden always building huts of turf and mud

Playing in the woods when an owl attacked me, mopped away the blood

Blowing up a rubber boat and patching up the holes

Falling in the water, dripping wet and catching colds

Charger nos affaires sur un petit cheval et une charrette

Aller au bord de la mer une fois par an, des châteaux dans le sable

Aller à la fête foraine avec mes sous comptés dans ma main

Aller au cirque en pleurant si je voyais un clown

Marcher sur mes échasses de six pieds et ne jamais tomber

Crier sur mon frère, il se cache, ne jouera pas dans la neige

Tout ce que je fais, il ne veut tout simplement pas suivre, ne veut pas y aller

Jouer dans les champs en faisant semblant d'être un boucanier

A lancé une épée, l'a accidentellement frappé à l'oreille

Jouant le jardin en construisant toujours des huttes de gazon et de boue

Jouer dans les bois quand un hibou m'a attaqué, a essuyé le sang

Faire exploser un canot pneumatique et colmater les trous

Tomber à l'eau, se mouiller et attraper un rhume
