There was a Pearl at the bottom of the sea

He was a diver like you and me

From a little village built on the sand

Where the people had nothing but faith in the Lord’s hand

In the far-away near, the Pearl was always there

Floating like a dream or like a storm in the air…

And the Pearl grew bigger on the people’s despair

When the divers went to dive they prayed the same sad prayer

«Oh, God, help me find it this time

When I hold it to the light, how the Pearl will shine.»

Early one morning, fates changed everything

Zandro’s baby boy felt the scorpion’s sting

The town doctor just sent them away

«Poor people like you got no money to pay.»

In Maya’s arms, her baby just cried

While Zandro heard the Pearl’s song pounding louder inside

Into his boat he put his wife and child

And paddled out into the ocean wild

«Oh, God, help me find it this time

When I hold it to the light, how the Pearl will shine

Help me Lord, help me Lord, help me Lord, help me.»

When he held it to the light the great Pearl did shine

Evil on evil, sin on sin…

The whole town’s hunger started closin in

The priest came from the churchyard to show his deep concern

The doctor came to visit, now there was money to be earned

His child got better despite the doctor’s pills

Whose plan it was to fake him sick, then pretend to heal his ills

And Maya said, «Let's throw this pearl back to sea

I do believe it’s wicked, it’ll curse our family.»

Oh, God, Zandro couldn’t see the sign

When he held it to the light the Great Pearl did shine

Shimmering, glistening, glimmering, glowing

With knives they came to steal his precious prize

Zandro killed beneath the starless sky

With blood-stains on his hands they had to flee

But some crushed his boat, so they couldn’t go by sea

They fled into the mountains by moonlight

Three hunters close behind them through the night

Then high up on a rocky mountain side

Zandro found a cave for his family to hide

He spied the hunters camp and wainted 'til they slept

With his knife strapped to his back, down the rocks he crept

Silently for hours, 'til he was almost there

Then just before Zandro planned to leap into the air

High up on the mountain his child made a sound

A gun went off, the song of eveil echoed all around

Oh, Zandro killed the hunters

But it was all to late

One bullet in the darkness

Sealed his child’s fate

Maya took her baby down to the sea

With Zandro by her side, not beleiving such a thing could be…

That his child would never waken fro his sleep

Then Zandro threw the Pearl with all his might

And gave it back to the deep

Il y avait une perle au fond de la mer

C'était un plongeur comme vous et moi

D'un petit village construit sur le sable

Où le peuple n'avait que foi dans la main du Seigneur

Dans le lointain proche, la Perle était toujours là

Flottant comme un rêve ou comme une tempête dans les airs…

Et la perle a grossi sur le désespoir du peuple

Lorsque les plongeurs sont allés plonger, ils ont prié la même prière triste

« Oh, mon Dieu, aide-moi à le trouver cette fois

Quand je le tiens à la lumière, comme la Perle brillera.»

Tôt un matin, le destin a tout changé

Le petit garçon de Zandro a senti la piqûre du scorpion

Le médecin de la ville vient de les renvoyer

"Les pauvres comme vous n'ont pas d'argent pour payer."

Dans les bras de Maya, son bébé vient de pleurer

Pendant que Zandro entendait la chanson de la Perle résonner plus fort à l'intérieur

Dans sa barque, il mit sa femme et son enfant

Et pagayé dans l'océan sauvage

« Oh, mon Dieu, aide-moi à le trouver cette fois

Quand je le tiens à la lumière, comment la perle brillera

Aide-moi Seigneur, aide-moi Seigneur, aide-moi Seigneur, aide-moi. »

Quand il l'a tenu à la lumière, la grande perle a brillé

Mal sur mal, péché sur péché…

La faim de toute la ville a commencé à se refermer

Le prêtre est venu du cimetière pour exprimer sa profonde inquiétude

Le médecin est venu rendre visite, maintenant il y avait de l'argent à gagner

Son enfant va mieux malgré les pilules du médecin

Dont le plan était de le faire semblant d'être malade, puis de faire semblant de guérir ses maux

Et Maya a dit : "Rejetons cette perle à la mer

Je crois que c'est méchant, ça va maudire notre famille. »

Oh, mon Dieu, Zandro ne pouvait pas voir le signe

Quand il l'a tenu à la lumière, la Grande Perle a brillé

Scintillant, scintillant, scintillant, brillant

Avec des couteaux, ils sont venus voler son précieux prix

Zandro tué sous le ciel sans étoiles

Avec des taches de sang sur ses mains, ils ont dû fuir

Mais certains ont écrasé son bateau, donc ils ne pouvaient pas aller par la mer

Ils se sont enfuis dans les montagnes au clair de lune

Trois chasseurs se rapprochent d'eux dans la nuit

Puis en haut sur un flanc de montagne rocheux

Zandro a trouvé une grotte pour que sa famille se cache

Il a espionné le camp des chasseurs et a attendu jusqu'à ce qu'ils dorment

Avec son couteau attaché à son dos, il a rampé sur les rochers

Silencieusement pendant des heures, jusqu'à ce qu'il y soit presque

Puis juste avant que Zandro n'ait prévu de sauter dans les airs

En haut de la montagne, son enfant a fait un son

Un coup de feu a explosé, le chant du mal a résonné tout autour

Oh, Zandro a tué les chasseurs

Mais c'était trop tard

Une balle dans l'obscurité

Scellé le destin de son enfant

Maya a emmené son bébé à la mer

Avec Zandro à ses côtés, ne pas croire qu'une telle chose puisse être...

Que son enfant ne se réveillerait jamais de son sommeil

Alors Zandro lança la Perle de toutes ses forces

Et l'a rendu au plus profond

Il y avait une perle au fond de la mer

C'était un plongeur comme vous et moi...
