Well the school kids like to have a laugh on me

With their spitballs and chewin' gum mess…

Making fun of my cornball singing voice

And the real square way I dress

Well I’m gonna sing a song in the principal’s office

So they better respect an old man

Workin' hard for the kids;

gettin' by the best I can!

Well if a broomstick was a microphone…

I could show you all a thing or two

I ain’t on the stage, just a dirty old floor…

And I got a lotta work to do

I can’t carry a tune in a bucket…

But I carry that bucket with pride

faire du mieux que je peux

Je suis dans ta salle de classe, ta salle de billard, ton bureau et ta maison…

Et la plupart des gens ne pensent pas qu'un concierge ait besoin

Un peu de gentillesse de temps en temps

Eh bien, je m'en fiche vraiment si vous pensez que je suis un carré

De mon chapeau à mes chaussures

Alors allez-y doucement avec un gars qui essaie de vous faciliter la vie !

Eh bien, les écoliers aiment se moquer de moi

Avec leurs boules de crachat et leur gâchis de gomme à mâcher…

Se moquer de ma voix de cornball

Et la vraie façon carrée dont je m'habille

Eh bien, je vais chanter une chanson dans le bureau du principal

Alors ils feraient mieux de respecter un vieil homme

Travailler dur pour les enfants ;

faire du mieux que je peux !

Eh bien, si un balai était un microphone…

Je pourrais vous montrer à tous une chose ou deux

Je ne suis pas sur scène, juste un vieux sol sale…

Et j'ai beaucoup de travail à faire

Je ne peux pas transporter une mélodie dans un seau…

Mais je porte ce seau avec fierté
