A NIGHTMARE ON MY STREET

He’s the D. J, I’m the Rapper

Now I have a story that I’d like to tell

About this guy, you all know me I was scared as hell

He comes to me at night when I crawl into bed

He’s burnt up like a weenie and his name is Fred

He wears the same hat and sweater every single day

And even if it’s hot outside, he wears it anyway!

He’s home when I’m awake, but he shows up when I sleep

I can’t believe that there’s a nightmare, on my street!

It was a Saturday evening if I remember it right

And we had just gotten off of tour last night

So the gang and I thought that it would be groovy

If we summoned up the posse and down watch a movie

I got Angie, Jeff got Tina

Ready Rock got some girl I’ve never seen in my life

That was alright though, 'cuz lady was chill

Then we dipped to the theatre set to ill

Buggin', cold havin' a ball

And somethin' 'bout Elm Street was the movie we saw

The way it started was decent

You know, nothin' real fancy

About this homeboy named Fred

And this girl named Nancy

But, word!

When it was over, I said, «Yo, that was def!»

And everything seemed alright when we left

But when I got home and laid down to sleep

That began the nightmare, on my street!

It was burnin' in my room like an oven

My bed soaked with sweat, and man, I was buggin'

I checked the clock, and it stopped at 12:30

It had melted it was so darn hot, and I was thirsty

I wanted something cool to quench my thirst

I thought to myself, Yo!

This heat is the worst!

But when I got downstairs, I noticed something was wrong

I was home all alone, but the TV was on.

I thought nothin' of it as I grabbed the remote

I pushed the power button, and I then almost choked

When I heard this aweful voice comin' from behind, it said

«You are my favorite rapper, but now you must die!"(?)

Man, I ain’t even wait to see who it was

Broke inside my drawers and screamed, «So long 'cuz!»

Got halfway up the block, I calmed down and stopped screamin'

And thought, Oh, I get it, I must be dreamin'

I strolled back home with a grin on my grill

I’m thinkin' since this is a dream, I might as well get ill

I walked in the house, the big, bad, Fresh Prince

But Freddy killed all that noise real quick

He grabbed me by my neck and said,

«Here's what we’ll do.

We’ve got a lotta work here, me and you,

The souls of your friends, you and I will claim.

You’ve got the body, and I’ve got the brains.»

I said, «Yo, Fred.

I think you’ve got me all wrong.

I ain’t parnters with nobody with nails that long.

Look, I’ll be honest man, this team won’t work

The girls won’t be yours, Fred, your face is all burnt»

Fred got mad and his head started steamin'

But I thought what the hell, I’m only dreamin'

I said, «Please leave Fred, so I can get some sleep.

But gimme a call, and maybe we’ll hang out next week.»

I pat him on the shoulder, say, «Thanks for stoppin' by.»

Then I opened up the door and said, «Take care, guy!»

He got mad, threw back his arm, and slashed my shirt

I laughed at first, then thought, Hold up… that hurt.

It wasn’t a dream, man, this guy was for real

I said, «Freddy, uh, uh, there’s been an aweful mistake here.»

No further words, and then I darted upstairs

Crashed through my door then jumped on my bed

Pulled the covers up over my head and said,

«Oh please, do somethin' with Fred!»

He jumped on my bed and threw the covers with his claws

Tried to get me… but my alarm went off.

and then

Silence

It was a whole new day, I thought.

Heh… I wasn’t scared of him, anyway.

Until I noticed those rips in my sheets

And that was proof that there had been a nightmare, on my street.

Oh man, I gotta call Jeff, I gotta call Jeff

C’mon, c’mon…

C’mon Jeff, answer!

C’mon man

Jeff: Hello…

Prince: Jeff, it’s Prince man, Jeff, wake up Jeff, wake up!

Jeff: What do you want?!

Prince: Jeff, wake up, man.

Listen to me.

Jeff

Jeff: It’s 3 O’clock in the morning, what do you want?

Prince: Jeff, listen, Jeff, would you listen to me?

Whatever you do, don’t

Fall asleep.

Jeff: Man!

Prince: Jeff.

listen to me.

Don’t go to sleep

Jeff: Look, I’ll talk to you tomorrow, I’m goin' to bed

AGHH… AGHHH

Prince: Jeff!

Jeff!

…Jeff, answer me, Jeff!

Freddy: I’m your D.J.

UN CAUCHEMAR DANS MA RUE

C'est le DJ, je suis le rappeur

Maintenant, j'ai une histoire que j'aimerais raconter

À propos de ce gars, vous me connaissez tous, j'avais peur comme l'enfer

Il vient vers moi la nuit quand je rampe dans mon lit

Il est brûlé comme un weenie et son nom est Fred

Il porte le même chapeau et le même pull tous les jours

Et même s'il fait chaud dehors, il le porte quand même !

Il est à la maison quand je suis éveillé, mais il se montre quand je dors

Je ne peux pas croire qu'il y ait un cauchemar, dans ma rue !

C'était un samedi soir si je m'en souviens bien

Et nous venions de quitter la tournée hier soir

Alors le gang et moi avons pensé que ce serait groovy

Si nous convoquons le groupe et regardons un film

J'ai Angie, Jeff a Tina

Ready Rock a une fille que je n'ai jamais vue de ma vie

C'était bien cependant, parce que la dame était cool

Ensuite, nous avons plongé dans le décor de théâtre pour être malade

Buggin ', froid ayant une balle

Et quelque chose à propos d'Elm Street était le film que nous avons vu

La façon dont ça a commencé était décente

Tu sais, rien de vraiment fantaisiste

À propos de ce homeboy nommé Fred

Et cette fille nommée Nancy

Mais, mot !

Quand c'était fini, j'ai dit : "Yo, c'était définitivement !"

Et tout semblait bien quand nous sommes partis

Mais quand je suis rentré à la maison et que je me suis couché pour dormir

Cela a commencé le cauchemar, dans ma rue !

Ça brûlait dans ma chambre comme un four

Mon lit trempé de sueur, et mec, j'étais sur écoute

J'ai vérifié l'horloge et elle s'est arrêtée à 12h30

Il avait fondu, il faisait tellement chaud et j'avais soif

Je voulais quelque chose de cool pour étancher ma soif

Je me suis dit, Yo !

Cette chaleur est la pire !

Mais quand je suis descendu, j'ai remarqué que quelque chose n'allait pas

J'étais seul à la maison, mais la télé était allumée.

Je n'y ai pensé à rien en attrapant la télécommande

J'ai appuyé sur le bouton d'alimentation, puis j'ai failli m'étouffer

Quand j'ai entendu cette voix affreuse venir de derrière, elle a dit

"Tu es mon rappeur préféré, mais maintenant tu dois mourir !" (?)

Mec, je n'attends même pas de voir qui c'était

J'ai pénétré dans mes tiroirs et j'ai crié : "A bientôt, parce que !"

Arrivé à mi-chemin du pâté de maisons, je me suis calmé et j'ai arrêté de crier

Et j'ai pensé, Oh, j'ai compris, je dois être en train de rêver

Je suis rentré à la maison avec un sourire sur mon grill

Je pense que puisque c'est un rêve, je pourrais aussi bien tomber malade

Je suis entré dans la maison, le grand, méchant, Fresh Prince

Mais Freddy a tué tout ce bruit très vite

Il m'a attrapé par le cou et m'a dit :

« Voici ce que nous allons faire.

Nous avons beaucoup de travail ici, toi et moi,

Les âmes de vos amis, vous et moi réclamerons.

Tu as le corps, et j'ai le cerveau.»

J'ai dit : " Yo, Fred.

Je pense que vous m'avez tout faux.

Je ne suis partenaire avec personne avec des ongles aussi longs.

Écoute, je serai un homme honnête, cette équipe ne fonctionnera pas

Les filles ne seront pas à toi, Fred, ton visage est tout brûlé »

Fred est devenu fou et sa tête a commencé à bouillir

Mais je pensais que diable, je ne fais que rêver

J'ai dit : « S'il vous plaît, laissez Fred, pour que je puisse dormir un peu.

Mais appelle-moi, et peut-être qu'on se verra la semaine prochaine. »

Je lui tape sur l'épaule, dis : « Merci d'être passé ».

Puis j'ai ouvert la porte et j'ai dit : "Fais attention, mec !"

Il s'est mis en colère, a rejeté son bras en arrière et a lacéré ma chemise

J'ai d'abord ri, puis j'ai pensé : Attends… ça fait mal.

Ce n'était pas un rêve, mec, ce gars était pour de vrai

J'ai dit : "Freddy, euh, euh, il y a eu une terrible erreur ici."

Aucun autre mot, puis je me suis précipité à l'étage

Je me suis écrasé à travers ma porte puis j'ai sauté sur mon lit

J'ai tiré les couvertures sur ma tête et j'ai dit :

« Oh s'il te plaît, fais quelque chose avec Fred ! »

Il a sauté sur mon lit et a jeté les couvertures avec ses griffes

J'ai essayé de m'attraper… mais mon alarme s'est déclenchée.

et puis

Silence

C'était une toute nouvelle journée, pensai-je.

Heh… Je n'avais pas peur de lui, de toute façon.

Jusqu'à ce que je remarque ces déchirures dans mes draps

Et c'était la preuve qu'il y avait eu un cauchemar, dans ma rue.

Oh mec, je dois appeler Jeff, je dois appeler Jeff

Allez! Allez…

Allez Jeff, répondez !

Allez mec

Jef : Bonjour…

Prince : Jeff, c'est Prince mec, Jeff, réveille-toi Jeff, réveille-toi !

Jeff : Qu'est-ce que tu veux ? !

Prince : Jeff, réveille-toi, mec.

Écoute moi.

Jef

Jeff : Il est 3 heures du matin, qu'est-ce que tu veux ?

Prince : Jeff, écoute, Jeff, veux-tu m'écouter ?

Quoi que vous fassiez, ne le faites pas

S'endormir.

Jeff : Mec !

Prince : Jef.

écoute moi.

N'allez pas dormir

Jeff : Écoute, je te parlerai demain, je vais me coucher

AGHH… AGHHH

Prince : Jef !

Jeff !

Freddy : Je suis ton D.J.
