As he turned a great bend

Till he came to the end

He looked to the left

And he looked to the right

But there was not a lion,

Not a lion in sight.

There was only a pond

Just a few steps ahead

So he walked slowly to it

And peaked out his head

He looked in the water

And what did he see?

The lion, of course.

For the lion was he.
