Woke up this morning looked around my cell

Can’t believe I get to leave today

Thank the Lord Jesus Christ the most high

I started to cry as I prayed

I can’t wait to walk with my son

And see the big smile on his face

And make up for every single day

That I was gone

I said peace to my mans in C block

Fam in E block and Pastor James

I couldn’t believe that the time was coming

I would finally be on my way

I never thought that I’d leave here breathing

But thank God for my faith

I took one last look at the yard

I took one last look at the guard

And said I’m ready to go

Oh, I was locked down, hopeless until You looked my way

I was doubtful that You would forgive a man like me

You are the reason that I can finally say

That I’m free

I spoke to the guard said, «I'm leaving a new man»

Shook his right hand then I headed for the front gate

I could see my son jumping for joy

I smiled back at the guard and said that’s my boy

I hugged my son with a knot in my throat

Thanked my wife for all the letters she wrote

For staying with me through this four and a half

For being a mother, for being a dad

I said, «Thank you baby for sticking with me through these hard times

Sorry baby for every single night I made you cry»

She said, «Don't worry I’m just glad your alive

Ready to start brand new and push the old to the side»

Thank You Lord I couldn’t thank You more

For everything You’ve done in my life

I praise You Lord, I couldn’t repay You Lord

For keeping me alive, it’s good to be back babe

Je me suis réveillé ce matin, j'ai regardé autour de ma cellule

Je n'arrive pas à croire que je puisse partir aujourd'hui

J'ai commencé à pleurer pendant que je priais

J'ai hâte de marcher avec mon fils

Et voir le grand sourire sur son visage

Et me rattraper pour chaque jour

Que j'étais parti

J'ai dit la paix à mes hommes dans le bloc C

Je n'ai jamais pensé que je partirais d'ici en respirant

Mais Dieu merci pour ma foi

J'ai jeté un dernier coup d'œil à la cour

J'ai jeté un dernier regard au garde

Et j'ai dit que je suis prêt à partir

J'ai parlé au gardien qui a dit : "Je quitte un nouvel homme"

Je lui ai serré la main droite puis je me suis dirigé vers la porte d'entrée

Je pouvais voir mon fils sauter de joie

J'ai souri au garde et j'ai dit que c'était mon garçon

J'ai embrassé mon fils avec un nœud dans la gorge

A remercié ma femme pour toutes les lettres qu'elle a écrites

Pour être resté avec moi pendant ces quatre ans et demi

Pour être mère, pour être père

J'ai dit : "Merci bébé d'être resté avec moi pendant ces moments difficiles

Désolé bébé pour chaque nuit où je t'ai fait pleurer »

Elle a dit: "Ne t'inquiète pas, je suis juste contente que tu sois en vie

Prêt à repartir à neuf et à mettre de côté l'ancien »

Merci Seigneur, je ne pourrais pas te remercier davantage

Pour tout ce que tu as fait dans ma vie

Je te loue Seigneur, je ne pourrais pas te rembourser Seigneur

Pour m'avoir gardé en vie, c'est bon d'être de retour bébé
