The Letter - Royal Tusk

This is the actual letter I wrote to you

I rarely find the composure to edit my way back through

It’s stuffed in my pocket and put through the washer too

And lives in my drawer, at the back with the others

Just like a brother of literature, impending doom

Born in '84 you know that I’m watching you

So I met the dead in grade 10 back when we shared a room

And you had my back, yeah, despite all the others

When you say what you’re feeling

And cheapen the meaning

I could not say what it was then

Looking back I was dreaming

But I found the words

And I wrote them out

It never changed a thing

Even though I know, you know

I pulled you along in the snow back when I knew the way

Ignored all the fear just by hoping I knew what to say

You drew me a picture little sister, yeah, back in those days

You were so small but your heart was the strongest

And if I was scared little girl it was you standing tall

You had my back, yeah, despite all the others

And cheapen the meaning

I could not say what it was then

Looking back I was dreaming

It’s not anything to me

It’s even worse not to get a start

Like the one you gave to me

C'est la lettre que je t'ai écrite

Je trouve rarement le sang-froid nécessaire pour revenir en arrière

Il est fourré dans ma poche et passe également dans la machine à laver

Et vit dans mon tiroir, au fond avec les autres

Tout comme un frère de la littérature, une catastrophe imminente

Né en 84, tu sais que je te regarde

Alors j'ai rencontré les morts en 10e année quand nous partagions une chambre

Et tu me soutenais, ouais, malgré tous les autres

Quand tu dis ce que tu ressens

Et dévaloriser le sens

Je ne pouvais pas dire ce que c'était alors

En regardant en arrière, je rêvais

Mais j'ai trouvé les mots

Et je les ai écrits

Cela n'a jamais rien changé

Je t'ai entraîné dans la neige quand je connaissais le chemin

J'ai ignoré toute la peur juste en espérant que je savais quoi dire

Tu m'as dessiné une image petite soeur, ouais, à l'époque

Tu étais si petit mais ton cœur était le plus fort

Et si j'avais peur petite fille c'était toi debout

Tu me soutenais, ouais, malgré tous les autres
