Wicker Plane - State Radio

In the park there’s a wicker made plane

that crashed down just the other day.

The pilot had lost his way, got disoriented

and crash landed in the middle of the city.

He’d never seen buildings so tall

and wondered why they even didn’t ever think to lean over and fall,

and wondered how he’d manage to navigate through them all like he did.

But oh how they seemed to lean over him now,

as if to peer down on the broken scene.

As if to question the innocent invasion of the stranger

brought down in the hurricane.

He said wherever I am Lord,

please you must explain,

just hours ago I took off in my wicker plane.

Night fell and with it came the rain.

Down on the buildings, the pilot the plane.

Rain ran down his hair, hangin' so low

makin' circles in the puddles where the drops would go.

A little boy came along,

took him to a tree on top a gentle slope

said this tree is a misfit like you and me.

On rainy nights like this the bark come off like rope.

They bundled up the bark, each took a load.

Took it to the high rise where the little one lived.

Tossed it down the park with a mighty throw

and watched it unroll to the ground round.

The pilot ran down, tied the bark to the prop

and then promptly left the park to go back to the top.

There they hauled the plane clear up to the roof,

the boy said the place you come from that’s where I’ll be from too.

Dans le parc, il y a un avion en osier

qui s'est écrasé l'autre jour.

Le pilote s'était égaré, était désorienté

et s'est écrasé au milieu de la ville.

Il n'avait jamais vu d'immeubles aussi hauts

et se sont demandé pourquoi ils n'avaient même jamais pensé à se pencher et à tomber,

et se demandait comment il parviendrait à les parcourir tous comme il l'a fait.

Mais oh comment ils semblaient se pencher sur lui maintenant,

comme pour regarder la scène brisée.

Comme pour s'interroger sur l'innocente invasion de l'étranger

renversé par l'ouragan.

Il a dit où que je sois Seigneur,

s'il vous plaît, vous devez expliquer,

il y a quelques heures à peine, j'ai décollé dans mon avion en osier.

La nuit est tombée et avec elle est venue la pluie.

En bas sur les bâtiments, le pilote de l'avion.

La pluie coulait dans ses cheveux, suspendu si bas

faire des cercles dans les flaques d'eau où les gouttes iraient.

Un petit garçon est arrivé,

l'a emmené jusqu'à un arbre au sommet d'une pente douce

dit que cet arbre est un inadapté comme vous et moi.

Les nuits pluvieuses comme celle-ci, l'écorce se détache comme une corde.

Ils ont regroupé l'écorce, chacun en a pris une charge.

Je l'ai emmené dans le gratte-ciel où vivait le petit.

Je l'ai jeté dans le parc avec un puissant lancer

et je l'ai regardé se dérouler jusqu'au sol.

Le pilote a couru, a attaché l'écorce à l'hélice

puis rapidement quitté le parc pour revenir au sommet.

Là, ils ont transporté l'avion jusqu'au toit,

le garçon a dit que l'endroit d'où tu viens est aussi celui dont je serai.

Où que je sois Seigneur,

s'il vous plaît, vous devez expliquer.
