Captain Albert Alexander - Steam Powered Giraffe

When he was a boy

He wanted to play down by the sea

At age thirteen, every day after school

He would always sail around the lake

All the people would stand and stare

As he sailed around with precision and care

With his bi-corner hat and the way he would stand

He looked just like a Navy man

All the townsfolk would gather and say, and sing away…

Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll be a brave seafarer someday

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in the waves

By age twenty-four

He had left the shore and was sailing for the Queen

On a dark starry night

Albert awoke to the sound

Of his Captain screaming as he was drowned

The Navy crew was taking a lick

Pirates had invaded the ship

But Albert with one aimed harpoon

Ignited their rum with a spark and soon

Flames drove the pirates away

The Navy sang…

Saved his crew from pirate slaughter

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in the water

Now everyone dance

Dance!

Dance!

Twenty some odd years later

On his ship The Sea Slater

He sailed into a mass of blubber

Gazing up to the sky stood a large walrus

That was a hundred stories high (A hundred stories high)

It meant no harm

The walrus was in a great deal of pain

It suffered from a tusk with tooth decay

Albert threw his anchor 'round its tusk

With a little bit of pulling it was out by dusk

The walrus thanked Albert and sang, as he sailed away…

Friend to sea urchin and me

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in the sea

At a ripe old age lightning struck from the sky

And split Albert’s vessel in two

One hundred men fled for their lives

On rafts across the ocean blue

Albert stood at the stern of his ship

A giant octopus had him in its grip

A vortex of spiraling death below ripped

And sharks and electric eels all made the trip

To see Albert sink to the bottom of the sea

Just before he went down

He called out to his crew:

«It's obvious that my time has come

I’ll let this ending ensue

I’ve led an exciting nautical life it would seem

And there’s no better end than a death by the sea!»

His crew sang…

He went down in the sea

But that Captain Albert Alexander

He’ll go down in history

He went down, down, down in, the sea, the sea

«Look at the splinters on these fingers!»

Quand il était un garçon

Il voulait jouer au bord de la mer

À 13 ans, tous les jours après l'école

Il naviguait toujours autour du lac

Tous les gens se lèveraient et regarderaient

Alors qu'il naviguait avec précision et soin

Avec son bicorne et sa façon de se tenir

Il ressemblait à un homme de la marine

Tous les habitants de la ville se rassemblaient et disaient et chantaient…

Il sera un marin courageux un jour

Mais ce capitaine Albert Alexander

Il descendra dans les vagues

À vingt-quatre ans

Il avait quitté le rivage et naviguait pour la reine

Par une sombre nuit étoilée

Albert s'est réveillé au son

De son capitaine hurlant alors qu'il était noyé

L'équipage de la marine prenait un coup de langue

Les pirates avaient envahi le navire

Mais Albert avec un harpon braqué

Enflammé leur rhum avec une étincelle et bientôt

Les flammes ont chassé les pirates

La Marine a chanté…

A sauvé son équipage du massacre des pirates

Mais ce capitaine Albert Alexander

Il descendra dans l'eau

Maintenant tout le monde danse

Danse!

Danse!

Vingt quelques années impaires plus tard

Sur son navire The Sea Slater

Il a navigué dans une masse de graisse

Regardant vers le ciel se tenait un grand morse

C'était une centaine d'histoires de haut (une centaine d'histoires de haut)

Cela ne signifiait aucun mal

Le morse souffrait beaucoup

Il souffrait d'une défense avec de la carie dentaire

Albert a jeté son ancre autour de sa défense

Avec un peu de traction, c'était au crépuscule

Le morse a remercié Albert et a chanté, alors qu'il s'éloignait…

Ami d'oursin et moi

Mais ce capitaine Albert Alexander

Il descendra dans la mer

À une vieillesse mûre, la foudre a frappé du ciel

Et diviser le vaisseau d'Albert en deux

Une centaine d'hommes ont fui pour sauver leur vie

Sur des radeaux à travers l'océan bleu

Albert se tenait à la poupe de son navire

Une pieuvre géante l'a tenu dans son emprise

Un vortex de mort en spirale ci-dessous déchiré

Et les requins et les anguilles électriques ont tous fait le voyage

Voir Albert sombrer au fond de la mer

Juste avant qu'il ne tombe

Il a appelé son équipage :

"Il est évident que mon heure est venue

Je laisserai cette fin s'ensuivre

J'ai mené une vie nautique passionnante, semble-t-il

Et il n'y a pas de meilleure fin qu'une mort au bord de la mer !"

Son équipage a chanté…

Il est descendu dans la mer

Il entrera dans l'histoire

Il est descendu, descendu, descendu dans la mer, la mer
