My daddy worked at the foundry Monday through Friday

Come Saturday night he was the leader of the band

He played all the dances down at the BFW

And singing on the weekend, that feeds me to

I don’t have to tell you I grew up and moved to Nashville

Monday through Sunday I’m the leader of the band

And I’ve got my family sometimes I leave behind me

I travel round the country and play the one night stand

Sometimes I wish I was more like my daddy

And worked down at the foundry and came home every night

But I made my choices and I carry 'em with me

Just like the pictures of my children and my wife
