Psalm 19 - The Corner Room

and the meditation of my heart

be acceptable in your sight, O Lord,

my rock and my redeemer.

1 The heavens declare the glory of God,

and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.

2 Day to day pours out speech,

and night to night reveals knowledge.

3 There is no speech, nor are there words,

whose voice is not heard.

4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,

and their words to the end of the world.

In them he has set a tent for the sun,

5 which comes out like a bridegroom

leaving his chamber,

and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.

6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,

and its circuit to the end of them,

and there is nothing hidden from its heat.

7 (w)The law of the Lord is perfect,

(m) reviving the soul;

(w) the testimony of the Lord is sure,

(m) making wise the simple;

8 (w) the precepts of the Lord are right,

(m) rejoicing the heart;

(w) the commandment of the Lord is pure,

(m) enlightening the eyes;

9 (w) the fear of the Lord is clean,

(m) enduring forever;

the rules of the Lord are true,

and righteous altogether.

10 More to be desired are they than gold,

even much fine gold;

sweeter also than honey

and drippings of the honeycomb.

11 Moreover, by them is your servant warned;

in keeping them there is great reward.

12 Who can discern his errors?

Declare me innocent from hidden faults.

13 Keep back your servant also

from presumptuous sins;

let them not have dominion over me!

Then I shall be blameless,

and innocent of great transgression.

et la méditation de mon cœur

sois acceptable à tes yeux, ô Seigneur,

mon roc et mon rédempteur.

1 Les cieux proclament la gloire de Dieu,

et le ciel au-dessus proclame son ouvrage.

2 Jour après jour déverse la parole,

et nuit après nuit révèle la connaissance.

3 Il n'y a ni parole, ni paroles,

dont la voix n'est pas entendue.

4 Leur voix retentit par toute la terre,

et leurs paroles jusqu'à la fin du monde.

Il y a dressé une tente pour le soleil,

5 qui sort comme un marié

sortant de sa chambre,

et, comme un homme fort, suit son cours avec joie.

6 Son lever vient du bout des cieux,

et son circuit jusqu'à la fin,

et rien n'est caché de sa chaleur.

7 (w) La loi du Seigneur est parfaite,

(m) raviver l'âme;

(w) le témoignage du Seigneur est certain,

(m) rendre sage le simple;

8 (w) les préceptes du Seigneur sont justes,

(m) réjouir le cœur;

(w) le commandement du Seigneur est pur,

(m) éclairer les yeux;

9 (w) la crainte du Seigneur est pure,

(m) durer éternellement ;

les règles du Seigneur sont vraies,

et tout à fait juste.

10 Ils sont plus désirables que l'or,

même beaucoup d'or fin;

plus doux aussi que le miel

et les gouttes du nid d'abeilles.

11 De plus, c'est par elles que ton serviteur est averti;

les y garder est une grande récompense.

12 Qui peut discerner ses erreurs ?

Déclarez-moi innocent des vices cachés.

13 Retiens aussi ton serviteur

des péchés présomptueux;

qu'ils ne dominent pas sur moi !

Alors je serai irréprochable,

et innocent de grande transgression.
