Crossing the Bar - The Longest Johns

Sunset and evening star,

And one clear call for me!

And may there be no moaning of the bar,

When I put out to sea,

But such a tide as moving seems asleep,

Too full for sound and foam,

When that which drew from out the bgoundless deep

Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,

And after that the dark!

And may there be no sadness of farwell,

When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place

The flood may bear me far,

I hope to see my Pilot face to face

When I have crossed the bar.

Coucher de soleil et étoile du soir,

Et un appel clair pour moi !

Et qu'il n'y ait pas de gémissement du bar,

Quand je prends la mer,

Mais une telle marée qui bouge semble endormie,

Trop plein pour le son et la mousse,

Quand ce qui a puisé de l'abîme sans fond

Retourne chez lui.

Crépuscule et cloche du soir,

Et après ça le noir !

Et qu'il n'y ait pas de tristesse d'adieu,

Quand j'embarque ;

Bien que de notre bourne du temps et du lieu

Le déluge peut m'emporter loin,

J'espère voir mon pilote face à face

Quand j'ai franchi la barre.
