I was in a line at the supermarket the other day, and uhm…

y’know, I had all my things on the little conveyor belt there.

And uh…

there’s a gal in front of me that is uh.

well, she’s staring at me and I’m getting a

little nervous and uh, she continues to stare at me.

And I uh, I keep looking the other way.

And then, finally she comes over closer to me and she says: «I apologise for staring, that must have been annoying.

You look so much like my son, who died.

I just can’t take my eyes off you.

«And she precedes to go into her purse and

she pulls out a photograph of her son who’d died.

And uh, he looks absolutely nothing like me.

In fact he’s…

Chinese.

Uh…

anyway, we chatted a little bit.

And uh, she says: «I'm sorry, I have to ask you.

Would you mind,

as I leave the supermarket here, would you mind saying «Goodbye mom» to me?

I, I know it’s a strange request but I haven’t heard my son saying «Goodbye mom» to me, and «So long» and it would mean so much to me to hear it.

And uh, if you don’t mind I… «And I said: «Well, you know, okay, yeah, sure.

Eh.

uh…

I can say that.»

And, and so,

she uh gets her groceries all checked out.

And uh, as she’s going out the door she

waves at me and she hollers across the store: «Goodbye son!»

And I look up and I wave and I say: «Goodbye mom!»

And then she goes, and uh…

So I get my few things there,

on the conveyor belt and the checker checks out my things.

And uh, and he gives me the total and he says: «That'll be four hundred and seventy nine dollars.»

Uh…

and I said: «Well, how is that possible!

I’ve only got a little tuna fish,

and uh some skimmed milk,

and uh mustard and a loaf of bread…» He goes: «Well, well you’re also paying for the groceries for your mother.

She uh, told me you’d take care of the bill for her.»

And I said: «Well, wait a minute!

That’s not my mother!»

And he says: «Well I distinctly heard her say as she left the store «Bye son!»

and you said «Bye mom!»

and so what are you trying to say here, uh…» I said: «Well, JESUS!

lot and she was just getting into her car.

And I ran out there.

And she was just closing the door,

and she had a little bit of her leg sticking out of the door and

she was pulling away and I grabbed her leg and I started PULLING it!

J'étais dans une file d'attente au supermarché l'autre jour, et euh…

tu sais, j'avais toutes mes affaires sur le petit tapis roulant là-bas.

Et euh…

il y a une fille devant moi qui est euh.

eh bien, elle me regarde et je reçois un

un peu nerveux et euh, elle continue à me regarder.

Et je euh, je continue de regarder de l'autre côté.

Et puis, finalement, elle s'approche de moi et elle dit : "Je m'excuse de regarder, ça a dû être ennuyeux.

Tu ressembles tellement à mon fils, qui est mort.

Je ne peux tout simplement pas vous quitter des yeux.

"Et elle précède pour entrer dans sa bourse et

elle sort une photo de son fils décédé.

Et euh, il ne me ressemble absolument pas.

Euh…

quoi qu'il en soit, nous avons bavardé un peu.

Et euh, elle dit : « Je suis désolée, je dois vous demander.

Cela vous dérangerait,

alors que je quitte le supermarché ici, pourriez-vous me dire « au revoir maman » ?

Je sais que c'est une demande étrange mais je n'ai pas entendu mon fils me dire "Au revoir maman" et "Au revoir" et ça signifierait tellement pour moi de l'entendre.

Et euh, si ça ne te dérange pas, je… « Et j'ai dit : « Eh bien, tu sais, d'accord, ouais, bien sûr.

Eh.

euh…

Je peux dire ça. »

Et, et ainsi,

elle euh fait toutes ses courses vérifiées.

Et euh, alors qu'elle sortait, elle

me fait un signe de la main et elle crie à travers le magasin : "Au revoir mon fils !"

Et je lève les yeux et je fait signe de la main et je dis : « Au revoir maman ! »

Et puis elle s'en va, et euh...

Alors j'y apporte mes quelques affaires,

sur le tapis roulant et le vérificateur vérifie mes affaires.

Et euh, et il me donne le total et il dit : "Ce sera quatre cent soixante-dix-neuf dollars."

Euh…

et j'ai dit : "Eh bien, comment est-ce possible !

Je n'ai qu'un peu de thon,

et euh du lait écrémé,

et euh de la moutarde et une miche de pain… » Il fait : « Bien, eh bien, tu paies aussi les courses pour ta mère.

Elle, euh, m'a dit que tu t'occuperais de la facture pour elle. »

Et j'ai dit : "Eh bien, attendez une minute !

Ce n'est pas ma mère !"

Et il dit : « Eh bien, je l'ai distinctement entendu dire en quittant le magasin : « Au revoir mon fils ! »

et tu as dit "Au revoir maman!"

et alors qu'est-ce que tu essaies de dire ici, euh… » J'ai dit : « Eh bien, JÉSUS !

"Et j'ai regardé dans le parking

beaucoup et elle venait juste de monter dans sa voiture.

Et j'ai couru là-bas.

Et elle venait de fermer la porte,

et elle avait un petit bout de sa jambe qui dépassait de la porte et

elle s'éloignait et j'ai attrapé sa jambe et j'ai commencé à la TIRER !
