Shall we gather at the river, Where bright angel feet have trod?

With it’s crystal tide forever flowing by the throne of God.

On the borders of the river washing up it’s silver spray,

We will walk and worship ever, O the happy golden Day!

Ere we reach the shining river lay we every burden down,

Grace our spirits will deliver and provide a robe and crown.

At the smiling of the river mirrored on the Saviors face,

Saints whom death will never sever lift the songs of saving grace

On the bosom of the river where the Savior King we own.

We shall meet and sorrow never neath the glory of the throne.

Soon we’ll reach the shining river, soon our pilgrimage will cease,

Soon our happy hearts will quiver with the melody of peace

Allons-nous nous rassembler au bord de la rivière, Où les pieds brillants des anges ont foulé ?

Avec sa marée de cristal coulant à jamais près du trône de Dieu.

Sur les bords de la rivière qui lave c'est un jet d'argent,

Nous marcherons et adorerons toujours, Ô l'heureux Jour d'or !

Avant d'atteindre la rivière brillante, nous déposons tout fardeau,

Grace nos esprits délivreront et fourniront une robe et une couronne.

Au sourire de la rivière se reflétant sur le visage du Sauveur,

Les saints que la mort ne séparera jamais lèvent les chants de la grâce salvatrice

Au sein de la rivière où nous possédons le Roi Sauveur.

Nous ne nous rencontrerons et ne nous affligerons jamais sous la gloire du trône.

Bientôt nous atteindrons le fleuve brillant, bientôt notre pèlerinage cessera,

Bientôt nos cœurs heureux trembleront avec la mélodie de la paix
