Last night I saw it there, shining in the dark again

I took the old path down, climbing over rocks and stones

The place I knew when I was young

And in my fear I had to carry on

Where no-one else had gone

Looking in the heart of darkness from above

To the man inside

I took my chance and set off for the light

And started the journey of my life;

And in the darkest hour that light was calling me

Through the doorway to another world

And there below me I saw all the days of my life

Till the moment I stood on the shore

Worlds away, this was my destiny

To be back here in another time

And all around me I saw the faces that I knew

Reaching out, «there is nothing to fear,»

La nuit dernière, je l'ai vu là-bas, brillant à nouveau dans le noir

La lumière que tous les hommes semblent craindre

Ils disent que des marins se noyaient dans la baie

Et les gens se sont tenus à l'écart

En attendant les richesses qu'un naufrage apporterait

Quand vient le matin

Et encore et encore cette lumière revient à nouveau

Pour hanter ceux qui n'entendraient pas la douleur ;

J'ai emprunté l'ancien chemin, escaladant les rochers et les pierres

L'endroit que je connaissais quand j'étais jeune

Et dans ma peur, j'ai dû continuer

Où personne d'autre n'était allé

Regarder au cœur des ténèbres d'en haut

À l'homme à l'intérieur

J'ai tenté ma chance et je suis parti vers la lumière

Et commencé le voyage de ma vie ;

Et à l'heure la plus sombre cette lumière m'appelait

Par la porte d'un autre monde

Et là-dessous, j'ai vu tous les jours de ma vie

Jusqu'au moment où je me suis tenu sur le rivage

Aux antipodes, c'était mon destin

Pour être de retour ici dans un autre temps

Et tout autour de moi, j'ai vu les visages que je connaissais

Tendre la main, "il n'y a rien à craindre",

Des mondes loin
