I Built a House - Fred Thomas

I built a house out of believing and burnt it down

Serious shouts circled the ceiling, then billowed out

Flames in my mouth, named after feelings

Crackling and proud, burning and beaming

I built a house, then I decided to leave

Ahhh…

I built a town, a park, a cathedral, left no structure out

Wondered about how one room feels empty

And one feels loud, with the wonder of how

We had all lived in closets, in backyard lightning

Then lived alone with many disguises

Nobody sees you and me as the same person twice

J'ai construit une maison en croyant et je l'ai brûlée

Des cris sérieux ont encerclé le plafond, puis ont explosé

Des flammes dans ma bouche, nommées d'après des sentiments

Crépitant et fier, brûlant et rayonnant

J'ai construit une maison, puis j'ai décidé de partir

J'ai construit une ville, un parc, une cathédrale, n'ai laissé aucune structure de côté

Je me demandais comment une pièce se sentait vide

Et on se sent bruyant, avec la merveille de comment

Nous avions tous vécu dans des placards, dans la foudre d'arrière-cour

Puis vécu seul avec de nombreux déguisements

Personne ne nous voit toi et moi comme la même personne deux fois
