Ancient Questions - Mount Eerie

Was it a dream

Where I wandered off the trail

Aimlessly drawn

And came to a clearing

On the hill of town

Still hearing calls

And a circle of stone

Surrounded a pool of black water and sky

Where I reached in and pulled out a song

Ceremoniously young

I think I dreamt it

Standing on the street in the wind looking south

Hunting for singing

Indulging imagining words in the wind

But nothing means nothing

Everything is fleeting

Don’t get used to it

I say, look upon the ruins

Two distant branches on the hill

There’s no song, no sacredness now

What I’d called the spirit world blows into dust

Like me, and the song

Born of alienation

Ancient questions

Unanswered, alive in me again

Indulging imagining words in the wind

But nothing means nothing

Everything is fleeting

Don’t get used to it

I say, look upon the ruins

Voice in the branches

Pulling me still

Était-ce un rêve

Où j'ai erré hors du sentier

Dessiné sans but

Et est venu à une clairière

Sur la colline de la ville

J'entends toujours des appels

Et un cercle de pierre

Entouré d'une piscine d'eau noire et de ciel

Où j'ai atteint et sorti une chanson

Cérémonialement jeune

Je pense que j'en ai rêvé

Debout dans la rue dans le vent regardant vers le sud

Chasse au chant

Se faire plaisir en imaginant des mots dans le vent

Mais rien ne veut rien dire

Tout est éphémère

Ne vous y habituez pas

Je dis, regarde les ruines

Deux branches éloignées sur la colline

Il n'y a plus de chanson, plus de sacralité maintenant

Ce que j'avais appelé le monde des esprits tombe en poussière

Comme moi, et la chanson

Né de l'aliénation

Questions anciennes

Sans réponse, vivant à nouveau en moi

Se faire plaisir en imaginant des mots dans le vent
