It’s almost Mother’s Day

Me and the other widows will commiserate

Alone at Montessori again

Straddling two worlds

Between the crush of single parenting

And the need for wailing in the woods

Around a slash pile burning

Into the night with tear crusted eyes

I know I’m overcompensating

In this PTSD disorientation

From my brief time in the rich part of the city

Now my hands stink like salmon skin

Left out in the rain in the ash

Of the fire from last night

I haven’t bathed in a while

And no one’s near me

If there’s significance in where you live

Let it all go and follow love and intuition

Today the tabloids told the world you separated me

And see what’s there

My phone began dinging more than usual

In the open sky

It was just like the day they found out that we’d gotten married

Because we’re all gonna die

Unwanted attention

From an inhumane delirious absurd other world that keeps trying to eat you

I woke up quivering, raw, and heartbroken again

Took my daughter to the garbage dump

And rifled through the free pile

And stood next to the pit

The crows and ravens circling spoke to us

And we spoke back to them

But nothing is real

Except this one thing

C'est bientôt la fête des mères

Moi et les autres veuves compatirons

De nouveau seul à Montessori

À cheval sur deux mondes

Entre le béguin de la monoparentalité

Et le besoin de gémir dans les bois

Autour d'un tas de bois brûlant

Dans la nuit avec des yeux en croûte de larmes

Je sais que je surcompense

Dans cette désorientation du SSPT

De mon bref séjour dans la partie riche de la ville

Maintenant mes mains puent comme la peau de saumon

Laissé sous la pluie sous la cendre

Du feu de la nuit dernière

Je ne me suis pas baigné depuis un moment

Et personne n'est près de moi

S'il y a une importance dans l'endroit où vous vivez

Laissez tout aller et suivez l'amour et l'intuition

Aujourd'hui les tabloïds ont dit au monde que tu m'as séparé

Et voir ce qu'il y a

Mon téléphone s'est mis à sonner plus que d'habitude

À ciel ouvert

C'était comme le jour où ils ont découvert que nous nous étions mariés

Parce que nous allons tous mourir

Attention indésirable

D'un autre monde absurde et délirant inhumain qui continue d'essayer de vous manger

Je me suis réveillé tremblant, brut et le cœur brisé à nouveau

J'ai emmené ma fille à la décharge

Et fouillé dans la pile libre

Et se tenait à côté de la fosse

Les corneilles et les corbeaux nous parlaient

Et nous leur avons répondu

Mais rien n'est réel

Sauf cette chose

N'oubliez pas à la librairie dans le coin poésie à l'étage

J'ai dormi avec ma tête sur tes genoux
